The DC brake VersiBrake Safe LP 480-60 Plc - functional safety combined with self-optimizing braking

The DC brake enables optimal braking time control within a maximum of three braking operations. The TÜV-certified DC brake VersiBrake LP 480-60 PL c (printed circuit board version) from PETER electronic is the particularly compact model for easy installation in the control cabinet or decentralized in the machine. The DC brake is ideal for use in woodworking, for mixers and sifters, as well as for systems that are equipped with a safety door. The safety functions comply with the requirements of the relevant standards (Cat. 2 / PL c according to EN ISO 13849-1, SIL according to EN 61800-5-2/EN61508) and can be used in applications up to PL c and SIL 1. The DC brake is for motor drives that have to be shut down reliably for safety and economic reasons. In addition, the new DC brake comes with motor temperature monitoring and thermal device protection, as well as parameterization via CANopen interface - a special plus that is exceptional in this device class.

Thermal device protection - Motor temperature monitoring - Emergency stop function -
Everything included - all-inclusive

The new VersiBrake Safe LP 480-60 PL c DC brake keeps all performance and safety-relevant device values of a motor under control, so that all components are protected as much as possible during braking and maximum operational safety can be guaranteed.
The European DIN standards (DIN EN ISO 13849-1:2016-06 / DIN EN 61508-1:2011-02) for the safety of woodworking machines are met. The safety functions include, for example, preventing unintentional start-up due to interference, monitored or controlled shutdown, activation of the (safety) door lock or external standstill monitoring with intelligent standstill detection. Of course, the DC brakes are equipped with sensors for monitoring the motor temperature and creating a thermal device image. Thanks to device protection, the heat sink and internal device temperature are also monitored. These safety functions, together with the motor temperature monitoring, guarantee increased safety for devices and the operating environment. A motor temperature switch, a motor PTC, a motor KTY84 or a PT1000 can be connected.

An additional braking contactor is not required with this DC brakes

A locking contact prevents the motor contactor from being switched on during the braking phase. An integrated evaluation circuit detects the engine standstill. The braking current is switched off and the standstill is given to the outside via a forcibly guided relay contact.

The VersiBrake Safe LP 480-60 PL c DC brake detects a wide variety of faults. All faults that no longer allow safe motor operation lead to an activation lock-out and are simultaneously output via the monitored, forcibly guided "device fault" relay contact. Device parameters and messages can be exchanged with a higher-level controller via a CAN interface with CAN-Open protocol. The VersiBrake Safe LP 480-60 PL c can thus be perfectly integrated into various device environments and everything remains under control.

The DC brake with numerous on-board functions

The safety functions mentioned predestine the DC brake with motor temperature monitoring for the use of numerous processing machines such as milling machines, planers, saws, brushes and grinding machines. But other machines in industry and building technology, for example sifters, centrifuges, vibrators or fans are reliably monitored and braked by the VersiBrake Safe LP 480-60 PL c. In addition to the CAN interfaces, there are other communication settings and individual adjustments for controlled braking. Other on-board functions ensure, for example, that the DC brake checks the electrical data of the connected motor and adjusts the optimum braking time and the required braking current accordingly.
