Performance and safety were essential quality requirements in the development of the VersiComb II Safe motor start/brake combination from PETER electronic. As a result, the product range features a TÜV-certified, secure stop, performance level c (PL c) classification in accordance with EN 13849-1 and safety integrity level 1 (SIL 1) in accordance with EN 61508 for functional safety.
The core element of the underlying safety concept is integrated standstill detection with monitoring of the standstill time. Optimal operator protection is guaranteed by the integrated standstill signal relay, which reliably signals when the motor has come to a standstill and is approved for locking a safety door. In addition, a device relay and a collective fault relay assure reliable and transparent function diagnostics and ensure consistently high system availability.
Efficient soft start/brake combination with intelligent control system
The modern soft start/brake combination VersiComb II Safe from PETER electronic significantly reduces starting current peaks to protect the mains and mechanical components. The integrated soft starter is self optimizing based on the desired start time. Voltage ramps or a current-controlled start-up can be parameterized as an alternative. The start-up time is designed to be self-optimizing, between 0.5 seconds and max. 25 seconds.
The integrated DC brake ensures controlled and rapid braking and, in combination with an integrated brake contactor, enables short braking times while at the same time protecting equipment. The braking process also optimizes itself according to the desired braking time.
Effective protective functions for motor and device
The VersiComb II Safe is equipped with comprehensive protective functions that safeguard both the motor and the electronics. These include:
- Motor temperature monitoring (PTC, KTY 84, PT1000)
- Device protection function
- Motor protection function
- Monitored shutdown
- Speed monitoring (with external speed sensor)
- Integrated current and voltage detection
The model range is designed for use with asynchronous motors, including low-voltage three-phase AC motors of efficiency classes IE1, IE2 and IE3. It covers motor outputs from 5.5 kW to 30 kW at 400 V mains voltage. Depending on the version, variants for 200...480 V or 400...575 V at 50/60 Hz are available.
Flexibility and ease of use
The VersiComb II Safe is parameterized to be user friendly via a control panel or CANopen on board. With potential-free control and signal inputs and outputs as well as push-in control terminals, quick and safe installation has been planned in advance. The devices are designed for installation in switch cabinets in accordance with protection class IP20.
