Can Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers be used with VersiDrives?

Yes, with the following provisions:

• A Type B AC drive must be used
• An individual ELCB must be fitted for each VersiDrive i
• The ELCB should be suitable for protection where the leakage current contains a DC component
• The trip level should be at least 30mA. The actual leakage current depends on the nature of the installation, the motor cable type and length, effective switching frequency and the RFI filter in use, and in some cases, a higher trip level may be required.
