The MS3 Series – small power packs for intelligent miniature drive solutions

With the AC drives of the MS3 series, PETER Electronic sets new standards in the field of micro drives. The compact drives, available in six sizes with outputs from 0.2 to 22 kW, are suitable for the precise control of three-phase asynchronous as well as PM motors. For flexible use, the AC drives have features such as an integrated PLC function, individually assignable digital inputs, a freely adjustable start-up curve, slots for different communication boards and an USB connection - and all in a housing that is up to 40% smaller than that of comparable products.

Versatile use thanks to numerous on-board features

Due to the large number of integrated functions, the AC drive is ideally suited for a wide range of applications. The real-time control of the acceleration / deceleration, for example in woodworking machines, increases the machine efficiency and the built-in EMC filter effectively suppresses network disturbances; In pump applications, the integrated PLC function and the internal PID control reduce the wiring effort. In almost every application, using the AC drive not only saves time, but also money, as there is no need to purchase expensive additional components. And even in applications with large load fluctuations, the high starting torque of 200% in the low speed range ensures excellent machine stability. IP40 versions are available for use in environments that are heavily contaminated with dust, fibers or moisture, for example in the case of textile machines. When it comes to safety, the AC drive does not have to shun any comparison. The integrated STO function reliably protects the operating personnel without the need to connect additional contactors. The braking energy recovery function, on the other hand, protects the drive from mechanical damage by braking the motor to a standstill in the event of a power failure; and if the mains voltage has been restored during the braking process, the motor accelerates again from the current frequency to the setpoint frequency.

Network-compatible and user-friendly

The AC drive can be comfortably operated using the removable control unit with its five-digit, seven-segment display. The internal USB interface can be used to conveniently set parameters and monitor and update data. The parameters combined in groups enable function-related setting of the values. The plug-in front cover and easily exchangeable fans make maintenance easier. The wiring is done quickly and easily without special tools using spring-loaded terminals. The internal EMC filter can also be activated by simply removing a jumper. All of the features help to shorten connection and commissioning times considerably. The all-round talent is completed by the numerous communication options that allow a connection to different networks such as PROFIBUS/DP or EtherCAT.
